It's been quite a year in the National Park System, and on the web pages of the National Parks Traveler.

Thanks to the support of our readers and listeners, the Traveler finished the year strongly, gaining steam along the way thanks to the addition of Justin Housman, our new associate editor, and a corps of writers, both long-term contributors and those new to our pages.

Those writers and podcasters — Jennifer Bain, Rita Beamish, Mark Eveleigh, Barbara 'Bo' Jensen, Kim Kobersmith, Rebecca Latson, Sharon McDonnell,  John Miles, Alex Murphy, Kim O'Connell, Robert Pahre, Craig Pittman, Lynn Riddick, David and Kay Scott, Lori Sonken, Eric Jay Toll, Amy Brecount White, Marcus Wolf — brought rich and unusual content from across the park system.

The growing support from readers and listeners is enabling those contributors to continue to search deeply in the National Park System for unusual stories that deserve to be told.

The Traveler exists both to report on the day-to-day goings-on across the National Park System and to bring you original, in-depth stories from the parks that inspire you and to inform you on how those essential places are managed. That role has never felt more important than it does today. And thanks to readers like you, our independent journalism is truly making a difference.

Please, if you haven't already, consider ending the year with a donation to Traveler's essential coverage of essential places!

With gratitude, Kurt Repanshek, founder and editor-in-chief

P.S. — If you see me with my kayak at Grand Teton National Park, stop by and say hi!
