The Appalachian National Scenic Trail will be featured on a series of Forever Samps/USPS
You'll soon be able to mail the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.
Well, you'll be able to mail images of the famous footpath that winds through 14 states from Maine to Georgia.
On February 28 the U.S. Postal Service will release a pane of 15 Forever stamps bearing images of the A.T. The sheet of stamps is arranged in five horizontal rows of three stamps featuring scenic images taken along the trail. The event will be celebrated at Georgia's Amicalola Falls State Park, which is about 8 miles from the A.T.
Antonio Alcalá, an art director for USPS, designed the pane using existing photographs.
As the Postal Service points out in a release announcing the new stamps, the A.T. "was established on the notion that in the increasingly hectic and industrialized world, it is physically and spiritually restorative for an individual to ramble, one step at a time, through unspoiled nature."
You'll be able to buy the stamps and other philatelic products through The Postal Store at usps.com/shopstamps, by calling 844-737-7826, by mail through USA Philatelic or at Post Office locations nationwide.
