Missing Couple Found in Grand Canyon National Park

A Salt Lake City couple that got turned around in a remote and rugged section of Grand Canyon National Park has been found. Park rangers plan to interview them today to find out exactly what happened.

"BioBlitz" Coming to Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area

When people talk about national parks, the discussion usually revolves around vacations, not biodiversity. And yet, America's national parks are biodiversity sinks. Search on For Overdue Hikers In Grand Canyon National Park

A search is under way in Grand Canyon National Park for two Salt Lake City residents who are thought to have headed into the western portion of the park for a 45-mile backpacking trek.

Traveler's View: Concealed Weapons Have No Place In Our National Park System

There is no need, nor justification, to allow concealed weapons into the National Park System. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne needs to stand up to the National Rifle Association and for the National Park System.

Is the National Park Service Obligated to Better Promote Proposed Change in Gun Regulations?

Does the National Park Service have an obligation -- before the public comment period closes -- to better inform the general public about proposed changes to the existing gun regulations? While those who closely follow national park issues and gun issues more than likely are aware of the proposal to allow park visitors to arm themselves, does the general park-going public?
