Remnants of Hurricane Kay Cause Road Closures In Death Valley

Storms fueled by the remnants of Hurricane Kay caused localized, heavy damage in Death Valley National Park on Saturday afternoon, September 10, 2022. California highway 190 (CA-190) is closed from CA-136 junction to Stovepipe Wells Village. Badwater Road is fully closed. Many other park roads are still closed from floods five weeks ago.

Repairs Made To Roads And Trails At Big Bend National Park

After a week of storm-related closures, many of Big Bend National Park's popular dirt roads and a portion of the paved Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive have reopened, the park announced Friday. In addition, the popular Lost Mine Trail has now partially reopened. Some low lying areas along the Rio Grande remain closed at this time due to high water and heavy mud.
