Brooks River Permits Available For The 2022 Season

If you are heading for a visit to Katmai National Park to view the bears or do a little fishing, you should know that new this year, from July 1– October 31, 2022, permits will be required for access to the Brooks River Corridor.

Operation Dry Water Being Conducted On Lake Powell Over July Fourth Weekend

During the July 4th holiday weekend, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area will be participating in the national Operation Dry Water awareness and enforcement weekend. Law enforcement officers across the country will be on heightened alert July 2 through 4 for those in violation of boating under the influence laws.

Great American Outdoors Act Funding To Preserve Historic Walls Of Carver Family Cemetery At George Washington Carver National Monument

Work is underway by the National Park Service (NPS) to repair, rehabilitate, and stabilize 400 linear feet of historic rock wall around the Carver Family Cemetery at George Washington Carver National Monument.

Valles Caldera To Lift Fire Restrictions

With improved fuel moisture levels and reduced fire danger, Valles Caldera National Preserve lifted Stage II and III fire restrictions at 9:00 am on Friday, June 24, 2022. As a result, most of the park will be open for exploring, including the full extent of its backcountry vehicle route.

The first fire of 2022 in Gates of the Arctic National Park & Preserve was discovered Tuesday, June 21. The lightning-caused Wormy Fire (#334) is estimated at 9.5 acres, approximately 21 miles west-northwest of Wiseman.
