Tunnel Fire Swept Across National Monument, Burning Buildings And Vehicles
Flames from the Tunnel Fire were said to be burning Friday in Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument in Arizona, three days after a firestorm swept across the monument, destroying a number of buildings and vehicles, the National Park Service said Friday evening.

State Of Maine Rebuffs Aquaculture Operation In Frenchman Bay Across From Acadia
A proposal to raise Atlantic salmon in two 60-acre pens in Frenchman Bay off of Acadia National Park in Maine has been blocked by the state, where the Department of Marine Resources said the company behind the project failed to properly source its fish eggs.

Rock Slide Impacts Access To Kings Canyon National Park
A rock slide will not allow access down to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon National Park as planned for Friday. The slide is on a portion of Highway 180 near Boyden Cavern (east of the cave at milepost 131) in Sequoia National Forest.

Grand Teton National Park Searching For Plan To Protect Bighorn Sheep Winter Habitat
Though Wyoming's Teton Mountain Range looks pretty expansive to the human eye, wildlife must coexist with a nearby ski resort and backcountry travelers, as well as shrinking habitat. At Grand Teton National Park, biologists are working on a plan to better protect the park's native bighorn sheep winter habitat, a plan that could lead to increased winter closures or designated travel routes.

Overpass To Help Reconnect Wildlife Habitat At Santa Monica Mountains
Crossing ten lanes of California's 101 Freeway, which sees more than 300,000 vehicles a day, is tricky at best, and often deadly, for mountain lions. When ground is broken Friday for a wildlife overpass spanning the freeway, it will mark a step towards safely reconnecting some of the fragmented habitat the lions need as they move about the region that includes Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
