Motorists on the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail will be greeted this summer by a new bridge over the creek/NPS.

The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail at Great Smoky Mountains National Park is scheduled to open at noon today. The road has been closed since November 1st, so that crews could replace eight bridges.

The bridges along the very popular 5.5 mile, one-way roadway needed to be completely removed and replaced as they reached the end of their usable service and in order to provide the best experience for visitors.

Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is one of the most unique places Great Smoky Mountains National Park for visitors to experience the beauty of the mountains, wildflowers in the spring, and fall colors in the fall.  The road also provides access to several popular trails leading to waterfalls and even the summit of Mount Le Conte.
