Published Date

December 5, 2017

New to the National Park Service History eLibrary this month are a range of materials, from National Park Service trading cards to park histories and Nature Notes from 1938 that look at El Malpais National Monument.

The trading cards include the complete Civil War to Civil Rights series, American Latino Heritage set, two National Parks Collections produced by the Jefferson National Parks Association, plus more cards that combined total more than 1,000 cards.

Also added to the independent website this month are a variety of materials with emphasis on Curation, Interpretation and Education, the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training, as well as GIS and Data Management. A 1916 edition of Glimpses of our National Parks joins several other editions already online, as well as a (nearly) complete set of Centennial Strategies that were produced for each park in 2007. New this month is a copy of Canyonlands National Park's administrative history, a rare copy of A General Index to Grand Canyon, and Nature Notes (published in 1938) and several docs pertaining to El Malpais.  And, as always, an ever expanding collection of park brochures and site bulletin. The site's collection of archives of park newspapers continues to grow, as well.

For ParksCanadaHistory.com, the latest additions wrap up Canada 150 with a look at national parks of Northwest Territories and Nunavut. A number of titles pertaining to Wood Buffalo National Park join the online collection, including a rare Canada’s Wild Buffalo (published in 1923).  Three other rare titles new this month are The Northwest Territories (1930), Fort William: Hinge of a Nation (c1970) and Une question de survivance: le Cariou (Renne Arctique) (c1950).
