For those keeping score at home, know that the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources will hold a hearing next Tuesday to consider a number of Interior Department nominations, including that of Jon Jarvis as the next director of the National Park Service.
Also to be considered are the nominations of James J. Markowsky, to be an Assistant Secretary of Energy (Fossil Energy), Warren F. Miller, Jr., to be an Assistant Secretary of Energy (Nuclear Energy) and Director of the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste, and Anthony M. Babauta, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Interior (Insular Areas), and Jonathan B. Jarvis, to be the Director of the National Park Service.
There had been some concerns that the confirmation hearing wouldn't take place until after the August recess and so delay Mr. Jarvis's appointment. If this hearing goes without a hitch, there could be time for the full Senate to vote on the nomination before the recess.
