Going-to-the-Sun Road between Avalanche and Logan Pass is closing for road work/NPS file

Due to this year’s ongoing pavement preservation project, Going-to-the-Sun Road between Avalanche Creek and Logan Pass in Glacier National Park will be closed September 16-29.

Logan Pass will remain accessible from the park’s St. Mary Entrance. Avalanche Lake Trail also will remain accessible, along with other trailheads west of Avalanche Creek.

For more information about pavement work on Going-to-the-Sun Road, please see travel tips for visiting the park in autumn and details on the full pavement preservation project.

Visitors also should be aware that all water at the Logan Pass Visitor Center is now off for the winter season. Porta-toilets will be available, but the visitor center will have no running water or flushing toilets until the water is turned back on next spring. Hikers in the Logan Pass area should bring their own water or water treatment devices to filter water along the trails.

does going-to-the sun road open on 25th Oct 2019?  I am to drive from Kalispell to St Mary village. Please advise.

NPS says the road "typically" closes the third Monday in October. Might be better to take Highway 2.
