Some years ago, 2007 to be exact, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush honored the National Park Service by making national parks the theme for the White House holiday decorations. That decision spurred an outpouring of artistic talent from around the park system. Unfortunately, those sparkling ornaments were not for sale.
This year, though, the Sequoia Parks Conservancy is offering a holiday ornament in celebration of Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks.
The 2007 event drew an amazing collection of ornaments from around the parks, from one that depicted the Historic Entrance to Mammoth Cave National Park to another that captured the jaw-dropping horizon at Grand Teton National Park.
While those ornaments were truly one-of-a-kind, this holiday season the Sequoia Parks Conservancy has plenty of ornaments to go around.
A hand-painted glass ball ornament with images of the giant sequoia trees and a black bear on one side and a beautiful high sierra scene on the other. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks painted along the top. Comes with a padded and lined keepsake box. A nice collectible ornament to have as a reminder of the beauty of these special national parks.
The ornaments run $22, though if you're a member of the Conservancy you can claim a 25 percent discount.
