Western National Parks Association, a Tucson-based nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, announced the appointment of two members to its Board of Directors. The board is the governing body of the organization, and members serve as ambassadors for WNPA, articulating its message, mission, and accomplishments to the public.
“We are delighted to welcome Chrystal Morris Murphy and Julia Jenness to the WNPA Board of Directors,” said WNPA Chief Executive Officer James E. Cook. “Both of them bring a wealth of experiences and skills essential for the organization as we thrive and grow. WNPA is fortunate these individuals are joining our efforts as we continue our important work for and with national parks. Julia and Chrystal bring new and vital perspectives to the board, and all of us are thrilled to have them join our team.”
Chrystal Morris Murphy graduated from The American University with a bachelor of arts in public communications and Spanish and earned numerous certificates from Stanford University, American Express Leadership Academy, and Northwestern University.
She has worked for many nonprofit organizations such as Sallie Mae Fund and America’s Promise Alliance. In her most recent role, she served as the senior vice president of programs and partnerships at the National Park Foundation, building capacity and sustainability of park philanthropy, creating programming, and expanding NPF’s brand and constituency.
Julia Jenness was born in Woodland, California, graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor of arts in political science, and earned a juris doctor from the University of Oregon. She has served on numerous community boards, including Capital Public Radio, Inc., Capital Public Radio Endowment Inc., and Wells Fargo Bank Community Advisory Board. Now retired, Julia’s most recent position was managing shareholder for Boutin Jones Inc., where she served as outside general counsel and special counsel to medium and large companies. Julia previously served a five-year term on Western National Parks Association’s board.
