Supporters of the National Parks Traveler, from individuals to friends organizations and businesses, donated nearly $90,000 to the nonprofit news organization during its year-end fundraising campaign.
"Though we fell just short of our $100,000 goal for the campaign, the $89,248 we received was an incredible outpouring and was more than double what the Traveler received during its 2020 campaign," said Editor Kurt Repanshek. "These are much-needed funds to help the Traveler expand its coverage of national parks and protected areas."
The support ranged from $5 in recurring monthly donations all the way up to $14,000 the news organization qualified to receive through the NewsMatch campaign, a national drive to raise charitable dollars for nonprofit media organizations.
More than 300 donations were received during the campaign. Organizations that provided support included the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the Everglades Foundation, Friends of Acadia, the Grand Teton National Park Foundation, the Great Smoky Mountains Association, the National Parks Conservation Association, the Potrero Group, Ranger Doug Enterprises, Washington's National Park Fund, Wild Tribute, the Yosemite Conservancy, and Ziga Media.

"In the months ahead, we hope to build on the success of this campaign so we can bring you more information and news about America's Best Idea," he said.
