Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Man On Blue Ridge Parkway

A hit-and-run accident has left a North Carolina man dead along the Blue Ridge Parkway/NPS file

Blue Ridge Parkway rangers were seeking information Wednesday regarding a hit-and-run incident that killed a 33-year-old North Carolina man.

According to a park release, on Tuesday morning around 6 a.m. dispatch operators received a report of a deceased male in the road near milepost 221 on the parkway. NPS law enforcement rangers arrived on scene and later confirmed the body to be that of Brandon Lee Wagoner of Sparta, North Carolina. The on-scene investigation revealed that Wagoner was struck by a vehicle.

An investigation was being led by NPS Investigative Services Branch, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, North Carolina Highway Patrol, and the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department.

A tip line has been established for anyone who may have traveled along the Blue Ridge Parkway area of milepost 221 near Sparta, North Carolina, in the overnight or early morning hours of Tuesday, May 30.
