Located about ten miles north of Seward, in southern Alaska, Kenai Fjords National Park is a spectacular, glacier-strewn park. Most is inaccessible by road, except for the frontcountry area of the park. Park officials are planning a new management plan for the park's frontcountry and are seeking public input.
The new plan has updated management zones, park regulations and management strategies to ensure the National Park Service is able to protect natural resources, facilities, and infrastructure while offering high quality, safe frontcountry experiences. The plan also addresses management issues triggered by glacial retreat and expands opportunities for visitors to enjoy an array of features and resources near Exit Glacier.
