Jewel Cave National Monument is located about 13 miles (21 km) west of Custer, South Dakota, and 24 miles (38.6 km) east of Newcastle, Wyoming, along Highway 16. The nearest (and largest) airport in which to fly, then rent a vehicle, is Rapid City Regional Airport in South Dakota, 63 miles away (101 km).

There are no formal or public transportation options to get to Jewel Cave.

According to plugshare.com, the nearest gasoline service stations and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are located in Custer (including an EV charger within Custer State Park), Hill City, and Keystone, in South Dakota, and Newcastle, Wyoming. These  communities are also where you can lodge and dine as well as purchase groceries/supplies.
