While there is no in-park lodging within Redwood National and State Parks, there are four developed campgrounds, two of which offer four cabins each. Outside the parks’ boundaries are hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals, and other private and public campgrounds.

Redwood National And State Parks Developed Campgrounds
The four developed campgrounds in Redwood National and State Parks are all managed by the California State Parks. Most of these campgrounds and sites were constructed before the 1940s, so RV/trailer maximum sizes are strictly enforced. Setting up hammocks on any of the trees is not allowed. The use of hammocks and ropes will damage the trees' bark.
Reservations are recommended and can be made online at ReserveCalifornia.com or by calling 800- 444-7275. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance, and each new date opens at 8 a.m. PST.
For all campgrounds:
Standard Nightly Camping Fee (this includes Federal “America the Beautiful” pass holders)
$35.00
CA State Parks Disabled Discount Camping Fee
$17.50
CA State Parks Distinguished Veterans Camping Fee
$0.00
Federal “America The Beautiful” Senior & Access Camping Fee
$17.50
All passes must be presented at the time of check in.
Jedediah Smith Campground is open year-round, and is the northernmost campground in the parks, offering 86 sites (one RV-only, 22 tent-only), including four cabins which are ADA-accessible. RV sizes are restricted to a maximum size of 25 ft/7.6 m and trailer sizes are restricted to a maximum size of 21 ft/6.4 m. Each campsite has a picnic table, food locker, and fire ring.
Each cabin has electricity, heaters, and lights, but no kitchen or bathroom. Maximum cabin occupancy is six persons. Each cabin has two bunk beds, each with a twin over a double in size, no mattress pads. Guests need to bring their own bedding. Nightly cost is $80 during winter, and $100 during summer. No pets are allowed.
Mill Creek Campground is in Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, 6.7 miles (10.8 km) miles south of Crescent City, California. Open seasonally from mid-May to beginning of October, this campground offers 145 sites (22 tent-only), including six ADA-accessible sites. Each campsite has a picnic table, food locker, and fire ring. Maximum RV/Trailer length 28 ft (8.5 m)/24 ft (7.3m).
Gold Bluffs Beach Campground is located on the coast within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park - in the southern part of the parks. Open year-round, this campground offers 26 sites (no ADA-accessible sites). Because access to this campground is by a narrow, winding dirt road, trailers are not permitted and RV maximum length is 24 ft (7.3 m). Each campsite has a picnic table, food locker, and fire ring. Due to their coastal location, these campsites are subject to fog and strong winds.
Elk Prairie Campground is in the heart of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, six miles (9.7 km) north of Orick, California. Open year-round, this campground offers 75 sites (1 RV-only; 21 tent-only), including four cabins which are ADA-accessible. Maximum RV/trailer length is 27 ft (8.2 m)/24 ft (7.3 m). All campsites are level and made of aggregate materials.
Each cabin has electricity, heaters, and lights, but no kitchen or bathroom. Maximum cabin occupancy is six persons. Each cabin has two bunk beds, each with a twin over a double in size, no mattress pads. Guests need to bring their own bedding. Space for a small tent outside to accommodate an additional two people max. Nightly cost is $80 during winter, and $100 during summer. No pets are allowed.
These cabins should NOT be confused with the nearby privately-owned Elk Meadow Cabins.
