Dinosaur National Monument Visitor Center Temporarily Closed

So construction can begin on a permanent visitor center at Dinosaur National Monument, the temporary visitor center is being relocated just down the road. The temporary visitor center closed today for three days to allow crews to move its exhibits and the Intermountain Natural History Association bookstore to another temporary location just outside the park's boundary.

The temporary center will reopen at its new location, about four miles north of Jensen, Utah, on State Route 149, on Saturday, February 20. Among the exhibits at the temporary site is a cast of one of the most complete skeletons of a Jurassic Period meat-eating dinosaur found anywhere in the world. The replica shows the bones just as they were discovered in the field. Remarkably complete, even down to tiny bones of the wrist, this spectacular specimen was found buried in a 150-million-year-old river deposit.

The temporary visitor center will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
