Searchers have had no luck in their hunt for a man gone missing at Mesa Verde National Park in southwest Colorado earlier this week.
Nearly three dozen searchers, along with two dog teams, have been looking for Mitchell Stehling, of Goliad, Texas, since his wife reported him missing last Sunday. According to park officials, Mr. Stehling had told his wife that was going to hike to Spruce Tree House.
Search efforts Friday were focused on Spruce Canyon, Navajo Canyon and Wickiup Canyon.
Temperatures in the park were expected to be in the 80s Friday. The terrain consists of steep canyons and mesa tops at an elevation between 6,500 and 8,000 feet. Mr. Stehling was last seen wearing a brown shirt and hat, khaki shorts and hiking boots. He was not carrying any water or other gear.
