Defenders of the Drakes Bay Oyster Co. have launched a website to raise the profile of the company's fight against the National Park Service to continue farming oysters at Point Reyes National Seashore.
The company has been fighting an uphill battle since November 2012, when then-Interior Secretary Ken Salazar declined to extend its lease at the seashore's Drakes Estero.
The legal battle could be heading to the U.S. Supreme Court. While the entire 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in January declined to hear the company's case against the National Park Service, the appellate court agreed to stay its ruling while Drakes Bay petitioned the Supreme Court.
"Save Drakes Bay" tracks the history of the legal battle, offers a section on "Fraud, Misconduct, and Misinformation" in the matter, and even has a section that talks about the benefits of oysters to ecosystems.
