Search Under Way For Missing Float Trip Passenger In Grand Canyon National Park

A passenger on a float trip down the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park went missing after falling from a ledge into the river at Havasu Rapids, or River Mile 157.

Park officials said a search was under way Saturday for Victor Tseng, a 68-year-old Phoenix, Arizona, man who reportedly fell from the ledge about 3 p.m. Friday. Guides on the commercial trip used a satellite phone to report the missing passenger about 3:40 p.m. Friday.

According to a park release, Mr. Tseng was not wearing a personal flotation device at the time and was last seen by members of his party below Havasu Rapids. He was described as standing 5-foot-7, weighing 175 pounds, with grey hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a long-sleeve aquamarine shirt, yellow bandana and tan pants at the time he vanished.
