National Park Foundation Open OutDoors for Kids Grant Awarded To Voyageurs National Park And Voyageurs Conservancy

Voyageurs National Park and park partner Voyageurs Conservancy are recipients of the Open OutDoors for Kids grant from the National Park Foundation to help further the reach of the Voyageurs Classroom Initiative, a joint education program connecting thousands of youths to the national park and encouraging them to recognize Voyageurs as an outdoor classroom.

House Committee Hears Differing Opinions On How To Solve Park Crowding

Proposals ranging from no barriers to visitation in the National Park System to better management of visitors entering and exploring parks were floated Tuesday during a House subcommittee hearing on how to deal with overcrowded parks, but no consensus materialized and whether the issue will be revisited in the next Congress remains to be seen.

EPA Recommends Protections For Bristol Bay From Mining Wastes

Environmental Protection Agency officials are recommending that the Bristol Bay watershed in Alaska be protected from becoming a disposal site for wastes associated with the proposed Pebble Mine that, if approved, would lie at the headwaters of two of the largest tributaries of Bristol Bay, and is directly between Lake Clark National Park and Preserve and Katmai National Park and Preserve.
