Four months after torrential storms spawned flash floods that undercut roads in Death Valley National Park, additional access to 95 miles of roads opened Saturday.

In a bid to protect and restore native plants and promote healthy and diverse forests, the National Park Service plans to reduce deer populations at Fort Dupont, Fort Washington and Greenbelt parks between January 2 and April 15. These National Park System units are located in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. 

Year-end holiday visitors to Zion National Park in Utah can take advantage of shuttles buses that will be operating through December 31.

You might find hiking the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in the coming year a bit easier than if you did it in 2023. That's because it shrank by a mile, according to the folks at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
