Never in the history of science has asking the question “Why Trust Science?” been more important than in 2020 because science denial in the face of climate change, pandemics, and the loss of biodiversity, among other challenges facing the world, threatens lives and the future of human communities across the globe.

UPDATE | Grand Canyon's Prehistoric Past Appears In 313-Million-Year-Old Tracks

A new chapter to Grand Canyon National Park's geologic past has come to light in the unique form of two sets of fossilized tracks more than 300 million years old that are lying in view of any hiker on the Bright Angel Trail. Those tracks, according to paleontologists, "are by far the oldest vertebrate tracks in Grand Canyon."

Coping With Coronavirus At Crater Lake

This year's coronavirus pandemic has challenged the National Park Service in myriad ways, forcing some managers to limit visitation through reservations, while most if not all have had to learn how to manage visitors and resources with staff limitations. At Crater Lake National Park, it has meant educating visitors that they can't turn the woods into bathrooms and that paddle boarding is not allowed on big blue.
