Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen, stalwarts in the ranks of rock-and-roll, will perform a benefit concert June 1 for the Joshua Tree National Park Association.

A microscopic algae normally found in colder waters has been found in waters of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and is threatening to suffocate native fauna on streambeds, according to the National Park Service.

The Salvo Day Use Area at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, which has been closed since Hurricane Irene swept across it last September, will reopen Tuesday.
