Baked by time like some multi-layer geologic tort, Canyonlands features a landscape cut by canyons, rumpled by upthrusts, dimpled by grabens, and even pockmarked, some believe, by ancient asteroids.

Rocky Mountain National Park Visitation Ebbs; Is The Thrill Gone?

Rocky Mountain National Park saw strong visitation in 2017, but it was down nearly 2 percent from the record year of 2016. Still, visitation to the Colorado jewel is up 40 percent from 2012 levels, according to park staff.

Pacific Earthquake Generates Larger Waves At Death Valley National Park Than At Coastal States

While a powerful earthquake off the coast of Alaska generated a tsunami wave just 8 inches high, at Devils Hole in Death Valley National Park a foot-high wave was generated, according to park officials.

Pregnant Elk Poached At Zion National Park

A pregnant cow elk was poached inside Zion National Park, possibly as recently as this past Saturday, when the government shutdown left national parks with skeleton staffs.

Death Valley National Park Staff Seeking Public Reaction To Plans For Scotty's Castle Exhibits

Death Valley National Park staff is seeking public input on its design plans for exhibits at the Scotty’s Castle Visitor Center. The public is invited to provide comments on exhibit proposals at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center at 2 p.m. on January 31. National Park Service personnel and contractors from The Design Minds will present several conceptual plans for the visitor center exhibits.
