Theodore Roosevelt's Pocket Watch Recovered After Missing For 37 Years

A silver pocket watch that traveled the world with Theodore Roosevelt during his presidency, including his charge up San Juan Hill, and travels to Africa and down the Amazon River has been returned to his family home at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site after missing for nearly four decades.

Photography In The National Parks: Two Cave Parks Above And Below

There are several park units within the National Park System that either feature caves, or at least have an explorable cavern or two within their federal confines, including Wind Cave National Park and Jewel Cave National Monument, both in South Dakota. These two parks offer great photo ops both above and below the ground, but cave shots can be a little tricky.

When Park Rangers Come Aboard Your Alaskan Cruise

On the day that three park rangers joined my cruise to interpret Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, I slept through their 6 a.m. arrival. But I was among the early birds gathered in the lounge for their 7:30 a.m. greeting, and when they later spoke from the bridge on a webcam channel, I listened from my stateroom with a park brochure and map spread out on the bed.
