More than two dozen Republican senators and congressmen have filed an amicus brief siding with parties that have gone to court in a bid to restrict a president's use of the Antiquities Act to set aside federal lands as national monuments.

Four months after torrential storms spawned flash floods that undercut roads in Death Valley National Park, additional access to 95 miles of roads opened Saturday.

In a bid to protect and restore native plants and promote healthy and diverse forests, the National Park Service plans to reduce deer populations at Fort Dupont, Fort Washington and Greenbelt parks between January 2 and April 15. These National Park System units are located in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
