Kīlauea Volcano, viewed by ther U.S. Geological Survey as the most dangerous volcano in the United States, has resumed its eruptions deep within its Halemaʻumaʻu crater.

With Congress at an impasse over how to fund the federal government beyond midnight Thursday, no decision has been made as to whether the National Park System will remain open in the event of a government shutdown Friday morning.

One of the more scenic and relaxing drives through Grand Teton National Park is along the Teton Park Road, which near its northern end crosses the Jackson Lake Dam. Work on the dam, however, will lead to occasional closings of that section of road through October.

Climate change is leaving National Park Service managers with stark choices: Stand by as the world warms to a point where ancient trees might no longer survive, or intervene so those trees may no longer be considered wild and national parks become something along the lines of national gardens.
