Often without their help trails would go without maintenance, wildlife research would dip, and facilities would deteriorate.

Two Mountain Lion Kittens Discovered in Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area

Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area claims the title of "largest urban national park in the country," but it's 150,000+ acres of mountains and coastline in Ventura and Los Angeles counties also include some non-urban wildlife. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve's 13.2 million acres includes some outstanding scenery and wilderness opportunities, but until recently, there have been no formal NPS camping facilities in the park. That's now changed after the dedication of the new Kendesnii Campground.
