Man Sentenced For Illegally Guiding Hikers At Buffalo National River

An Arkansas man who illegally guided hikes in Buffalo National River in Arkansas, one of which lead to a participant's death and another that required a hiker to be carried out of the backcountry, has been sentenced to two years on probation, banned from the park for two years, and ordered to pay more than $3,000 in fines and penalties.

National Cherry Blossom Festival Schedule Of Events

Special programs and services will be offered by the National Park Service during the 2023 National Cherry Blossom Festival, including the Cherry Blossom Festival Tidal Basin Welcome Area, the Bloomin’ Junior Ranger program, and cherry blossom-related ranger talks and education programs. National Park Service festival events will be held daily from Saturday, March 18, through Sunday, April 2.

Booz Allen Seeks Dismissal Of Recreation.Gov Lawsuit

Booz Allen Hamilton, the company that operates Recreation.gov for the federal government, has asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit against it, arguing in part that it doesn't charge any fees for use of the site that manages a wide array of recreational pursuits across public lands, from camping and hiking permits to climbing and cabin rentals.

Governments Announce Plans To Expand Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park

The Canadian and Quebec governments have announced they’re working to expand the boundaries of the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park. This project aims to better protect the biodiversity and ecosystems of the St. Lawrence Estuary, which is home to nearly 2,200 animal and plant species including the endangered beluga.
