Here we go again, only along a different route. This time we are headed east instead of west, and along the Lewis & Clark Historic Trail rather than the Oregon Trail. We would have preferred to follow the Corps of Discovery on its outbound journey to the Pacific, but we need to get back to our home in South Georgia.

Firefighters continue to battle the fire that started in Yellowstone National Park last Sunday near Beach Lake. By late Wednesday night the fire was 515 acres in size and was less than 25% contained. All park roads, entrances, and facilities remain open and no trails or backcountry campsites are impacted.

With long, harsh winters, and short, gorgeous summers, it's a fact of construction life in the Rockies that most road work coincides with summer vacations. And, unfortunately, that's the case in Grand Teton National Park, where a number of necessary projects could delay your travels through the park.
