Crews were expected Tuesday afternoon to begin cleaning up the debris from an unoccupied house that collapsed into the ocean at Rodanthe, North Carolina, in Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It marked the sixth time in the past four years that the ocean has claimed a house on the seashore.

One could be forgiven for thinking this is a national park you can see in an hour or so then move on along to the next big thing, because you can see so much from the road. To really get a feel for Badlands, however, you should spend at least a couple of days, if not more. This is especially true if you are a photographer loaded with cameras and gear.

If you plan to travel to Yellowstone National Park this summer, plan ahead to protect yourself and this wild and awe-inspiring place.

The National Park Service has provided $1.5 million for arts education and mentorship projects as part of the Native Hawaiian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development grant program.
