Work is underway to update the more than four-decades-old management plan for the stretches of the Colorado and Green rivers that flow through Canyonlands National Park in Utah.

Ongoing repairs stemming from damage caused by a 2021 wildfire and the hard 2023 winter to Sequoia National Park's Crystal Cave will keep the attraction closed this year, according to the Sequoia Parks Conservancy.

Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve has always intrigued me. Not quite 8.5 million acres, this sprawling park north of the Arctic Circle lies in the Brooks Range and counts six wild and scenic rivers and is home to moose, wolverines, black and grizzly bears, and Dall sheep. The landscape is largely untouched by humans.

Congress's action on legislation favorable to the National Park System and the National Park Service showed a decrease in the number of politicians viewed as champions for the parks, according to grades handed out by the National Parks Action Fund.
