It's going to be a crowded summer in the National Park System, but that doesn't mean you can't find incredible parks that are a bit off the well-beaten path and will offer you both beauty and some solitude without too much work on your part.

A hiker in Yellowstone National Park was injured by a bear, possibly a grizzly, Friday morning while hiking on the Beaver Ponds Trail at Mammoth Hot Springs in the park.

While the Woolsey Fire that swept through Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area back in 2018 charred much of the landscape, not all was entirely destroyed, and in fact has provided shelter for a pregnant bobcat. Park staff say a bobcat that was fitted with a radio collar more than a year after the fire turned a charred oak tree into a nursery for her three kittens.

Weather-related construction delays will keep the Many Glacier Road at Glacier National Park in Montana closed through the long Memorial Day Weekend.
