The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is scheduled to open on Thursday, May 15 at 6 a.m. to mark the official start of the 2025 season.

It's National Park Week, and while it'd be great to head out into the National Park System, that's not possible for all of us. But that doesn't mean we still can't savor the parks.

My journey, like that of so many other rangers, started with AmeriCorps, the impactful program that provides young people with service opportunities, now under attack by the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Located within parts of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, Yellowstone National Park truly deserves the honor of being designated America’s (and the world’s) first national park. Within it’s 2.2 million acres is the world’s greatest collection of geothermal displays and such a great diversity of wildlife that the park is nicknamed “America’s Serengeti.”
