Groups Call On Interior Secretary To Officially Restrict e-Bikes' Access In National Parks

Access eBike users have enjoyed in parts of the National Park System since 2019 should be rescinded at least until the National Park Service completes environmental studies on their impacts, a number of groups have told Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Park Service Director Chuck Sams.

Public Input Sought On Virginia's Triple Crown Visitor Use Management Plan For Appalachian Trail

Relatively few thru hikers manage to go end-to-end on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in one trek. But so many hikers crowd Virginia's Triple Crown segment of the A.T. near Roanoke, Virginia, that the National Park Service is developing a management plan for that section.

High Water Temperatures Threaten Florida Bay Ecosystem

This week, the world gasped when South Florida’s coastal water temperatures reached the upper 90s °F, shattering records and shocking locals and visitors alike. The Audubon team at the Everglades Science Center has recorded water temperatures in Taylor Slough, part of Everglades National Park, for more than 30 years. The team saw temperatures climb to 96.7 °F on July 12—one of the highest recordings ever taken by Audubon in Florida.

This Is What Happens When You Try To Take A Shortcut At Death Valley

Apparently lost while trying to follow GPS directions, two men in a sedan tried to cut across a salt flat in Death Valley National Park, only to strand their car in the flat and land one of the two in a hospital suffering from the heat. The event, back on the Fourth of July, also led to a court appearance for the two for driving off-road and damaging the salt flat.
