Saratoga National Historical Park in upstate New York has gained a bit more than 25 acres on the heights overlooking the Fish Kill and containing a majority of the American artillery emplacements that represented the central segment of the siege line between the fighting for Bemis Heights and the ultimate surrender of the British Army.

The Coalition to Protect America's National Parks has joined other organizations in siding with a lawsuit aimed at preventing a massive data center covering about 22 million square feet from being built next to Manassas National Battlefield Park in Virginia.

The National Trail System in the United States spans many thousands of miles of foot trail. The crown jewels of that system, of course, are the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, and the Pacific Crest Trail.
