Yellowstone National Park's winter-use management plan, which has been criticized for being too weak in defending the park's resources from impacts, was approved today by the National Park Service's Intermountain regional director.

A gravel bar at Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve that long has been used by bush pilots is no longer safe for planes to land upon, according to park officials. Going forward, the National Park Service will not take responsibility for pilots who decide to land there.

It's going to get a little more expensive to camp in Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida, where new fees will take effect October 1.
