President Biden's budget request for Fiscal year 2024 calls for $3.8 billion for the National Park Service, a number that includes a more than $250 million increase in funding for park operations with additional investments in disaster recovery, tribal collaboration, and employee housing.

The sky glowed fierce shades of orange and red that night in February when I stood at the Kīlauea Overlook and watched one of the world’s most active volcanoes do its thing. NPS Extending Public Comment Period On Bear Baiting In Alaska Preserves

The National Park Service, at the request of the state of Alaska, is extending through March 27 the public comment period on its plan to ban controversial sport hunting practices such as using donuts or grease-soaked bread to lure bears within range. The proposed regulations would only apply to hunting and trapping on Alaska national preserves.
