In a development that apparently ends a long dispute over whether a key vestige of the Wilderness Battlefield near Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park would be paved over, Walmart officials reportedly have abandoned their plans for a supercenter on the parcel.

Denali National Park, which in the past has given up fossils of prehistoric creatures, has done it again, this time relinquishing the fossilized bones of two new bird species.

Though not exactly like the swallows returning to Capistrano, a pair of bald eagles has once again been spotted at Cuyahoga Valley National Park and seems interested in nesting there.
