After early summer flooding inundated many parts of Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota, the waters are receding and more areas of the park are reopening to the public.

The National Park Service has released the “Plant Gathering for Traditional Purposes” Environmental Assessment for Indiana Dunes National Park. The purpose of this EA is to evaluate the potential impacts of entering into an agreement with the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians to allow traditional gathering of plants and plant parts at the park.

Canadians and international visitors can visit all national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas for free on Canada Day. Lockage along the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site and the Rideau Canal National Historic Site, as well as at Quebec's historic canals, will also be free on July 1.

A federal appellate court has given the National Park Service and Federal Aviation Administration until late July to explain why they are so behind in crafting air-tour management plans for many units of the National Park System.
