Plans To Shut Down Coal-Fired Power Plants Should Help Clear Air Over Great Smoky Mountains National Park

While much of the haze that inspired the name for Great Smoky Mountains National Park is natural, more than a little is the result of pollution from coal-fired power plants. But a landmark agreement should soon lead to less pollution over the park, which will be good for both views and your health.

An agreement being hailed as historic by some will give Yellowstone National Park bison access to 75,000 acres of land in Montana during winters, although the agreement doesn't preclude the iconic animals from being hunted or shot for going too far north of the park.
