Acadia National Park's water and wastewater distribution systems in the park's Schoodic District will be rehabilitated thanks to nearly $8 million in Great American Outdoor Act funding.

While much has been accomplished with restoration of the Everglades, and billions of dollars of more funding are being lined up, the National Academy of Sciences continues to have concerns over the lack of climate-change planning being factored into what is viewed as the world model for large-scale ecosystem restoration.

Kootenay National Park in British Columbia is getting $13 million (49.6 million USD) to restore the Radium Hot Springs Aquacourt.

Efforts are continuing within the Interior Department and the National Park Service to develop strategies to reduce the threats of wildfire on public lands, an endeavor complementary to work being conducted by the Agriculture Department.
