UPDATED: Oklahoma Woman Dies From Climbing Accident At Grand Teton National Park

An Oklahoma woman hoping to summit the Grand Teton in Grand Teton National Park was killed when she fell negotiating a short section of the climb below the Upper Saddle at an elevation of 13,160 feet, while a backpacker on the last day of a week-long Teton Crest trip was injured in an unrelated accident nearby.

Canada’s Point Pelee National Park is for the birds, literally. Established in 1918, the park was created to protect some of the last remaining wild marsh and forest habitat along the north shore of Lake Erie. Bird fanciers, both those who watched them and those who hunted them, spearheaded the drive to protect the land. Duck hunting is no more at Point Pelee, but the bird watching remains, and this curious spit of land continues to enjoy the guarantee of preservation from Parks Canada.

EPA Agrees To Take A Look At Source Of Air Quality Problems At Voyageurs, Isle Royale National Parks

It took six years, and a lawsuit from the National Parks Conservation Association and other environmental organizations, but the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has agreed to look into the source of air quality problems at Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota and at nearby Isle Royale National Park in Michigan.
