Did Somebody Sneak Another Unit Into The National Park System?

It seems that while no one was really paying much attention that another unit was added to the National Park System. Apparently in that 2,200-page omnibus bill Congress passed the other week and the president signed there was an amendment that created Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park in Missouri. At least in name.

One of the most incredibly beautiful birds you'll find in Everglades National Park is the Purple Gallinule. Unless you see a Roseate spoonbill. Or maybe a Tri-colored heron. Or a ..., well, you get the idea. There are an amazing number of gorgeous, and more common, bird species in the park. But time is running out to easily spot many of them, as the rainy season isn't too far off.

Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park To Offer Course On Log Cabin Preservation And Repair

Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park and the National Park Service's Vanishing Treasures Program are offering a free Log Preservation and Repair Intensive Workshop from April 10-19. The workshop focuses on the hands-on skills necessary for repairing and reusing historic log structures. Participants will be working together on an actual structure. The goal is to complete a log cabin by the end of the workshop.
