It was back in 1967 when the Congress chartered the National Park Foundation to serve as the official charity of the National Park Service, and over the decades it has raised millions of dollars for the parks.
 
The Foundation is in the midst of its Campaign for National Parks, a billion-dollar campaign that has already raised $815 million. A big chunk of that total came from a recent $100 million grant that greatly moved the foundation closer to its billion-dollar goal.
 

Cape Cod National Seashore To Study Seagrass Decline

Seven national park sites, including Cape Cod National Seashore, were recently selected for a collective $800,000 in funding from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 to invest in climate restoration and resilience projects over the next decade. The funding will allow National Park Service scientists to study seagrass meadow decline and identify strategies for regrowth in national parks along the East Coast. Cape Cod National Seashore will receive $112,000 of that collective funding.

Cape Cod's Beech Forest To Be Inducted Into The Old-Growth Forest Network

This coming Friday the Beech Forest at Cape Cod National Seashore in Massachusetts will be formally inducted into the national Old-Growth Forest Network. To celebrate the dedication of this protected forest, a ceremony will be held at the Beech Forest trailhead at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by a short trail walk with a plant ecologist.
