Mission 66 And Cape Cod National Seashore's Salt Pond Visitor Center
The Mission 66 program in the National Park Service was an ambitious 10-year program beginning in 1956 to improve national park facilities for the onslaught of Baby Boomers anxious to hit the road for their summer vacations. A hallmark of that program was unique architecture that helped define Mission 66. In the following video from Lower Cape TV, Cape Cod National Seashore historian Bill Burke explains the history behind the design of the seashore's Salt Pond Visitor Center.
