Late Start On Rehab Will Keep Cape Cod's Highland Light Open Most Of Summer

Though major rehabilitation will close the Highland Light at Cape Cod National Seashore to the public, since the on-site work isn't expected to begin until late summer, the lighthouse will be open for tours from April through much of the summer, according to seashore Superintendent Brian Carlstrom.

Cape Cod National Seashore To Host Annual Winter Film Festival: Out Of The Vault—Audience Favorites Through The Years

Now in its 11th year, this year’s film festival features fan favorites from years past. Timeless classics will show on a theater-size screen with surround sound. Films will show at 1:30 pm at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham on six consecutive Sundays from February 3 to March 10. The auditorium is wheelchair accessible, and the movies are free, thanks to generous funding from Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Cape Cod National Seashore’s Red Maple Swamp Trail Reopens

The entire Red Maple Swamp Trail in Eastham, Massachusetts, has reopened following a collaborative rehabilitation project between Cape Cod National Seashore and Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore. The trail, which was closed since 2010, is a 1.5-mile-long walking trail connecting the Fort Hill and Hemenway Landing areas.

Cape Cod Modern House Trust Signs Lease For National Seashore's Kohlberg Property

Along with pristine beaches and miles of sand dunes, Cape Cod National Seashore also protects a dozen mid-20th century modern homes that are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. One of those, the Kohlberg House, will be taken care of for the next decade by the Cape Cod Modern House Trust, which also will utilize the home for its scholar-in-residence programs and architectural studies.
