Grand Teton National Park Foundation Adds New Board Members

Grand Teton National Park Foundation has added new members to its board of directors and resource council. Joining the board of directors are Bruce Bowen, Debbie Hechinger, Nancy McGregor, and Ed Riddell. Bob Morse, Ellen Karpf, Jerry Rose, Judy Singleton, and Jim Waldrop joined the resource council. The group brings a broad spectrum of expertise in business, conservation, and leadership to the Foundation.

Study Says Yellowstone National Park Backpackers Mostly Happy With Their Experience

A study into the experiences of backpackers in Yellowstone National Park came away with the conclusion that almost all had a great experience. Most said they didn't think the park's backcountry was crowded, and they had no problem with the fees they had to pay.

The North Cascades Complex, comprised of Lake Chelan National Recreation Area, Ross Lake National Recreation Area, and North Cascades National Park, is a vast landscape of cold, clear rivers, thick forests, and rugged mountains webbed with a network of trails having few access roads and mainly for backcountry backpackers. Quick Thinking By Group Leader Helps ID Rabies In Bat That Bit Grand Teton National Park Visitor

It's highly unlikely to happen to you, but when a bat fell out of a tree and bit a visitor at Grand Teton National Park, the leader of the group was quick enough to capture the bat in a plastic bag and contact rangers. Subsequently, testing identified rabies in the bat, and the visitor was able to begin treatment to ward off the disease.

Fish And Wildlife Service Officially Returns Yellowstone Grizzlies To Threatened Status

Paperwork sometimes can take awhile. To that point, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service just this week completed work to relist grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act, a listing a federal judge called for last September.
